Another One to Remember! - Steve
We warned you. It wouldn't be one to miss.
Yesterday evening, we celebrated our third baptism at Emergence. It's a safe bet to set the bar high for moments like these, because it is all about telling the story of what Jesus has done in the lives of people right around us.
In the past two years and 1 month, we have had three baptism services. In that time, we have seen 95 people baptized at Emergence. That's 95 people who have publicly declared that their King, their Master, their Savior is Jesus Christ. That is, at the least, inspiring... at the most, it is awe inducing and humbling beyond description to even be any small part of God's work here.
35 people were batized yesterday. 31 of those were planned. For the first time at Emergence, and quite possibly the first time at Jacksonville Chapel, the door was opened for anyone who wanted to be baptized on the spot through the stirring of the Holy Spirit. No sooner had the invitation been given, someone came right up and said she wanted to be baptized. Then another, and another. Then, while wrapping up the service, someone interrupted me and asked to get baptized! Truly an unforgettable day.
While they don't completely do it justice, the pictures give you an idea of what it was like. You can find them as they start to roll in over on our facebook page. If you took some pics, feel free to post them there so we can all see!
Thank you SO much to all of those who made yesterday possible. Looking forward to seeing people who aren't even around us right now get dunked a year from now! By God's work, we'll see that for years to come.
